GOLMAAL AGAIN – THE LAYMAN REVIEW (by Majid Khan)

GOLMAAL

When Golmaal released in 2006 it was a great commercial success and a movie which can still make you laugh. Ajay Devgan, Sharman, Tushar Kapoor and Arshad Warsi all did their jobs well. The blind old couple of Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherji gave a great touch to that movie.

GOLMAAL RETURNS

Golmaal 2 which had Shreyas Talpade replacing Sharman Joshi was also a commercial success and is a one-time watch but still failed to reach the benchmark set by original movie. People missed Sharman Joshi. Kareena Kapoor was the female lead and her presence also helped a lot.

GOLMAAL 3 – A bitter disappointment.

Rohit Shetty would have survived without making that movie. It felt the same as watching Seed of Chucky in the “Child’s Play” series. Senseless and made just in desperation of making a franchise. It was with that movie I decided never to waste money on Rohit Shetty’s movies. And yes Kunal Khemu was included as well.

GOLMAAL AGAIN – REVIEW

via: tamilmixss

I watched Dilwale when I was living in “Middle East” and my friends made me watch it in theater. That was the day when I made a promise to myself that I will never watch a Rohit Shetty movie in theater. So I downloaded this one via torrent and even watching it for free made me feel miserable.

You should never expect something good out of a Rohit Shetty movie.. As the trailer said “NO LOGIC – ONLY MAGIC” I failed to find the magic part as well.

A group of orphans went back to their orphanage after 25 years and found it to be haunted. Tabu is the exorcism expert who can see spirits and is guiding the gang. The gang has some conflicts and is divided in two parts. Madhav, Laxman and Lucky are on one side and Gopal-Shreyas on the other side. Parineeti Chopra is also one of the spirits.

The acting is bad. Even a guy like me who got no technical knowledge was able to see the over-acting and how hard they are trying to act funny. Tushshar Kapoor just existed in the movie and it felt like Rohit Shetty wanted to give him an employment chance. The jokes are bad. The level of punchlines in the movie are same as that of Judwaa 2, Main Tera Hero, Phata Poster Nikla Hero and a hundred forgettable flicks. Here’s a sample of punchline:

Babli Bhai (Sanjay Mishra) enters the home and Laxman (Shreyas) says “Babli bhai aap yahan se kalti hojao” to which Babli replies “Kalti kyun? Main aaj tea piyunga” Get it?

Tabu chanting some magic words “Eem-Breem-Cold-Cream”

Ajay Devgan breaking fingers, Shreyas Talpade got some pronunciation disorder, Johnny Lever with memory issue, the spirit mimics Nana Patekar whenever takes over anyone’s body. If you like the comedy where a guy loses his memory when a coconut or guys throwing cakes on each other then you may like this movie. Since long I haven’t seen a sensible comedy movie. In most of Bollywood comedy movies you will see people either running toward each other or to get a diamond.

We have seen Ajay Devgan at his best in a lot of movies like Drishyam, Gangaajal, Bhagat Singh, and a hundred more. Tabu is one of the best actors bollywood has ever seen. Witnessing such great actors in a movie like this will make you feel bad for them.

VERDICT

Don’t watch this movie and also go to twitter and ask Rohit Shetty not to make such movies. India’s population is too much and a lot of people love such movies and will eventually make this movie a great hit but sensible people will agree with me at this point.

Disappointing thing is that a fine quality movie like “Secret Superstar” made around Rs. 5 crore on its first day and this one released on the same day reached above 30 crore the first day. Now you will understand what’s wrong with the audience
